Atelier Des Modistes takes it’s name from the historic “Modistes” of the 19th century France. Artisans who shaped fashion through the intimate language of dressmaking and adornment, they were the precursors to the modern couturier.

Dedicated to preserving traditions of quality in craftsmanship and savoir faire, our Atelier practices techniques commonly used in haute couture and works directly with family owned and heritage lace, embroidery and silk mills based in France, Italy and Switzerland.

Couture Process

Our Couture clients work directly with creative director Suzanne Hanley to create bespoke, heirloom quality garments. Self taught and with over 35 years of experience working as a couturier, Suzanne designs pieces to fit not only her client’s figures but also to compliment each of their individual styles and personalities - bringing their ideas to life through her expertise in design and craftsmanship.
